Union Corner Garden Planning

On Tuesday 9th and 16th of September we have been meeting to discuss what we would like to happen in the garden on the ‘Union Corner’ site – just opposite the Palace Theatre.  Guided by permaculture designer Tess Wilmot we have come up with exciting ideas that we can’t wait to put into action.  Lots of Time Bank hours and people will be needed to transform the derelict site and it will be wonderful when it’s done.

Another planning session on 23rd September, 6 – 8 for neighbours,  dreamers and doers and anyone interested.

The garden will be open for the Union Street Party on Sunday 28th September – check the potential and add more ideas.

A reminder of our meeting on Saturday  September 1-4  at the Oasis Cafe. All very welcome indeed…..

1-2 is a bring and share lunch, where we can discuss time bank things, like helping with the Union St Party, designing the community garden opposite the Palace…..

Then from 2 – 4 we will have a workshop on how we are going to do our 100 homes project – see below.

As part of the centenary of the three towns we and Stonehouse Action are doing 100 projects. This one is 100 homes…..

100 HOMES IN STONEHOUSE

As part of the centenary of the three towns we and Stonehouse Action are doing 100 projects. This one is 100 homes…..

The idea is to interview people who live, or have lived, in Stonehouse and collect stories and pictures about their homes. We’re thinking these can be put on postcards (picture one side and story the other) and posters to be sold in the community shop when it opens. Maybe there could be a tour of the houses, or an ap that shows you where they are and links with the stories.

Our next Time Bank Saturday meeting will be to have ideas about how we do this, and what we do with the stories in the end.

That will be SATURDAY 6TH SEPTEMBER from 1 to 4 at the Oasis Cafe. Note the slightly later than usual time.

WE need:

People to do interviews

People to take photos

People to design posters and postcards

People to have ideas and generally help out

People to tell us their stories.

Do you have a story about your house? Could you help out?

Come along on 6th Sept, or e-mail to let us know

WATCH OUT FOR: lantern making workshops, puppet making workshops, craft workshops, planning a lantern parade on 1st Nov.

100 FEASTS: we had the International Community Picnic at the end of Union St last week. The weather held off and it was delicious! Now we want to have an international Barbeque, and small swapped cookery lessons in people’s kitchens. Who wants to join in?

ALSO our October meeting (first Saturday of the month – 4th Oct) at the Oasis will be a lively workshop on the Plymouth Plan – what would YOU like to see changed/kept/started in Stonehouse over the next 20 years. Your views will be sent back to the council to be part of the Plan, which will be the guideline for all changes in Plymouth for 20 years. Don’t miss the chance to be heard!
